It is with sadness we report the passing of another of Epsom Coaches stalwarts, Peter Cobb on 6th March 2022 aged 91. Peter worked with us as a Coach Driver in the eighties and was highly regarded for his professionalism, good humour, and positive approach.
Peter Cobb was born on 11th October 1930 and married to Bridie for over 67 years. Bridie sadly passed away in August 2020. Peter and Bridie were loving parents to Brian, David, Clifford, Susan and Roy. Their eldest son Brian, passed away in June 2020. The couple enjoyed the company of their seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Peter’s skills and experience extend far beyond his driving. He was an enthusiastic trial biker, a keen student pilot and affectionately known as “Wing Commander” Cobb (Winco)” at Epsom Coaches. He loved bus and coach and was in his element in those busy days, travelling all over the UK and Europe. He was also an expert heating engineer.
Steve Whiteway, the Company’s last Managing Director and a veteran of Epsom Coaches paid this tribute to Peter. “Peter was not only an excellent driver in popular demand, but also a really nice person, who would go out of his way to help others. I have such fond memories of Peter and remember him coming to work with us. After he retired, we lost contact for a while, but I was delighted to see him at our staff reunion in November 2021. He was just the same, forever smiling and certainly one of life’s gentlemen. It was an honour to know Peter and we were privileged to have him on our driving team. I send my sincere condolences to Peter’s family, from the Epsom Coaches family, he will be sadly missed”.
Peter Cobb’s Funeral will be held on Wednesday 6th April 2022, 12 Noon at
